Docks Beers Artisan Brewery Tour

The first commercial brewery to open locally in fifty years, Docks Beers is located near the heart of Grimsby’s historic docks in the former St Barnabas church which now houses a state-of-the-art 15-barrel exhibition brewery. Flippantly known as the ‘theatre of beer’ because their brewing area is in full view of the taproom, visitors can watch brewers hard at work, making up to 20,000 pints a week.

Brewery tours are available on the first and third Saturday of each month or by special appointment for large groups, and include a 45-minute behind the scenes look at the brewing process followed by a craft beer tasting session in the brewery sampling their core beer range. Visitors also enjoy food from their street food vendor of the day in the vibrant taproom which overlooks the brewery and the brewing happening in it.

Groups can be accommodated by special arrangement in advance.

Traditional Smoked Fish Tour

Grimsby Traditional Smoked Haddock is recognised internationally and has Protected Geographical Status, which means the only haddock smoked the traditional way in Grimsby can be called Grimsby Traditional Smoked Haddock.

Alfred Enderby Grimsby pride themselves on the high quality skill and craftsmanship that goes into their award-winning smoked fish products.  Standing on Grimsby’s dockside, their traditional smokehouse, with distinctive ornate iron cowls, is roughly a hundred years old with two generations of the Enderby family involved in running it for most of that time.   Awarded by the Guild of Fine Food for their smoked salmon and smoked haddock, their traditional smoked fish is sent out across the whole of the UK.

According to renowned chef, Marco Pierre White, it is “Simply the most delicious smoked salmon I’ve eaten in decades”.

This brand new tour involves a fascinating overview of the history of the smokehouse, an introduction to the traditional smoking methods used and followed by a short tasting session. At the end of the tour, visitors can take advantage of a voucher towards a purchase of smoked fish to take home.  Tours usually take place on the second Saturday of the month and are bookable in advance.

Groups can be accommodated by special arrangement in advance.
